Local Restaurants

Anacaona - Elegant beachfront restaurant. Sometimes considered "The Best Restaurant in the Caribbean". Open-air tropical surroundings are elegant and quite lovely. Nouvelle cuisine with Caribbean flair. Live music some evenings. Some formal requirements, such as "no shorts!" and no children under 12. Expensive at dinner, reasonable at lunch. Reservations recommended. Located at the Grace Bay Club. Phone 946-5050.

Angela's Delicatessen & Catering Services - Daily full service breakfast and lunch. Bagels, muffins, pastries, croissants, meats, cheeses, soups, salads, subs, quiche, pizza, homemade desserts, gourmet coffees. Open Monday through Saturday, 6:30am to 6:00pm, Sundays 8am to 2pm. Next to NAPA on Leeward Highway. Phone 946-4694.

Baci Ristorante - Fine Italian/Mexican dining in a relaxed, yet elegant atmosphere. Pasta, veal, chicken and fresh fish. On the water at Turtle Cove. Phone 941-3044

Banana Boat - Seafood, black Angus steaks, Caribbean & Continental fare. Open daily from 11:30. Sometimes local music bands. Dockside at Turtle Cove Marina. Phone 941-5706.

Barefoot Cafe - Known for having delicious and creative foods beautifully presented in an unpretentious outdoor setting. The Wahoo with papaya chutney is an excellent and memorable dish; the seafood pasta is good. However, the lightly battered conch appetizer might be the best conch on the island. Lunch, dinner, specialty coffees, ice cream treats, fresh desserts, snacks, in and outdoor seating. (When making reservations, be sure chef Rich is cooking!) Located in the Ports of Call complex. Phone 946-5292.

Bella Luna - Genuine Italian cuisine prepared by Chef Cosimo. The veal dishes are truly superb. Open for dinner. Good food, great service, unique ambience! Glass House, opposite Allegro. You may dine outside or inside this pleasant contemporary structure, once you get past the awkward rear entrance way. Phone 946-5214.

Bugaloo's - Another conch shack, a bit further up the road. It is on the beach directly opposite The Three Queens Restaurant. Check to see if Bugaloo's is open (actually it is always "open", so we should say 'open for business') and if so, grab a table and order a conch salad, steamed conch, etc. then walk across the street and get a soft drink or beer. In season, Bugaloo's will also have lobster salad, but don't miss out on the cracked (fried) conch. It is fantastic and cheap!

Caicos Cafe Bar & Grill - Fresh grilled seafood daily, steak, lamb, chicken. Open noon to midnight. Great terrace. Across from Allegro on Governor's Road, Grace Bay. Phone 946-5278.

Calico Jack's - Seafood specialties, pasta and pizza, and wide choice of other food. Moderate prices. Bar with live music on Friday nights! Ports of Call. Phone 946-5129.

China Restaurant - Food at moderate prices, also food to go. Open for lunch and dinner. Between Allegro and Leeward Highway. Phone 946-5377.

Coco Bistro - Friendly, romantic outside dining in a pleasant tropical setting under the palms with long fronds forming a ceiling not unlike a nave in a church. Actually, this was part of Sunshine Nursery and the palms grew too large to transport, so now you may dine under these lovely trees. Experienced French chef and owners, Yves & Domi Coutisson prepare lovely and creative Caribbean/French dishes. Moderate prices. Authentic, homemade desserts, great wines. Indoors & outdoors seating in palm grove. Open daily for dinner. Turn right past Sunshine Nursery, then another immediate right to the Moroccan-style red building. Phone 946-5369.

Conch Shacks - Do you want a taste of true island flavor? Try one of the conch shacks on the Blue Hills road. One is the Blue Water Café located on the Blue Hills Road just where the road meets the ocean. The road turns left and if you went straight you would run right into the parking area of the Blue Water Café. Here you will eat (notice, we didn't say "dine") in a ramshackle lean-to right on the beach! Shortly after you order conch you can watch your waiter wade into the sea and retrieve a conch and prepare it as you watch. Very highly recommended is the steamed conch and conch salad. If is cheap, casual and an experience you will not find anywhere else. And the food is great! (especially the steamed conch!)

Coyaba Restaurant - Great open air dining on covered terrace with lush tropical surroundings. Best food on the island with exquisite service. Paul Newman is the chef! He is, in food, as good as the movie star was in films! Located at Coral Gardens, not far from Beaches Resort. Reservations recommended. Phone 946-5186.

Dora's Restaurant & Bar - Native dishes, seafood specialties. Monday & Thursday seafood buffet. Open daily 7:30 am. Leeward Highway. Phone 946-4558.

Gecko Grille - International cuisine with a touch of Caribbean spice. Air-conditioned indoor or romantic garden patio dining. Open Wednesday to Sunday 6:00 to 9:30 pm, bar 5:30 pm to midnight. Ocean Club Plaza. Phone 946-5885.

Hemingway's - Open terrace restaurant, near beach, serving lunch and dinner. Fresh fish, conch, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. At The Sands by Grace Bay. Phone 946-5199.

Hey Jose'sHey Jose Cantina (Hey Jose's) - Pleasant, somewhat whimsical interior decor, serving consistently good California/Mexican dishes and an excellent pizza in a friendly environment with a small amiable bar frequented by regulars as well as visitors. Their seasoned and crunchy French Fries are great! Open Monday to Friday, noon to 3 pm, to 10 pm. Saturday 6 to 10 pm. In Central Square on the Leeward Highway. Phone 946-4812.

Jungle Hut - Daily lunch and dinner.

Latitudes - Delicious salads, pizza, wraps, lunch and dinner specials. Ports of Call Shopping Village. Phone 946-5832.

Macky's Cafe - Is a kiosk containing a kitchen, bar, a few stools and several outdoor tables serving breakfast and excellent native lunches. Highly recommend a lunch of cracked conch served with 'peas and rice', cole slaw, and fried plantain strips - all for $8.00. In a pleasant, outdoor, casual and friendly surrounding. Located in the Market Place complex on the Leeward Highway.

Mango Reef - In and outdoors seating close to beach, same management as Tiki Hut.

Ocean Club Cabana Bar - Featuring breakfast, lunch and speciality drinks. On the beach. Phone 946-5880.

Pizza Pizza - New York style fresh pizza by the slice or by the pie. Delivers too! Leeward Highway. Phone 941-3577.

Pub on the Bay - A native restaurant on Blue Wills Road and a fun place to go for lunch or dinner where you can eat inside or at one of the tables on the beach across from the restaurant. Try the conch fritters, cracked conch, conch salad, fried and grilled fish. Everything on the menu is good! Dinners come with a choice of 'peas and rice', or potato pie. Phone 941-3090.
